History Sumsara Consulting, Inc. (SCI) is the consulting practice of Pragmatic Solutions, Inc. Sumsara is defined in the ancient language of Sanskrit as Global, Worldwide and Universal—this represents our range, sets the tone for our offerings, and communicates the spirit of our flexibility. SCI provides team-based targeted management consulting solutions to meet business needs in the area of financial operations, regulatory compliance, business transformation, finance and accounting, human capital and information technology. The company was honored to participate in a trade mission to India in September 2006 to explore exporting management consulting services to the Indian housing finance industry. Sumsara Consulting is participating in a 2nd trade mission to India in April 2007 with an objective to present a research paper to key government and private industry officials in the housing finance industry on US best practices in housing finance. Both trade missions have been organized by the Virginia Export Development Partnership (VEDP), an agency of the Commonwealth of Virginia. Sumsara Consulting is a minority- and woman-owned business. Corporate Structure Sumsara Consulting, Inc. is governed by a Board of Directors that meets regularly to set the strategic goals and objectives for the company. Key staff at Sumsara Consulting include: Shanta Patel, CEO Shanta Patel is the founder and CEO of Sumsara Consulting, Inc. Shanta has over 25 years of experience in the secondary mortgage market (Freddie Mac), financial services and staffing industries. Shanta received her Bachelor of Arts and Masters in Economics from the University of Bombay and her CPA through the Commonwealth of Virginia. Shanta completed Executive Management Training Programs at the Darden Business School of the University of Virginia and at Tuck Business School. Shanta was VMSDC's Entrepreneur of the Year in 2005 and is a Board member of the VMSDC, the Fairfax Symphony Orchestra and Cardinal Bank's Government Contracting Advisory Board. She learned Indian Classical Music and enjoys singing in her spare time. Shanta is married and lives with her husband and son in Fairfax, VA. Tushar Patel, Vice President & Secretary Tushar Patel is the Vice-President & Secretary of Sumsara Consulting, Inc. and provides day-to-day operational support including: managing financial accounts, interfacing with the banks for working capital and providing management support. Tushar has a primary mortgage background and has held various positions within the financial services industries. He received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration & Data Processing Management from Strayer University, Arlington, Virginia. Tushar is married and lives with his wife and son in Fairfax, VA. Greg Foley, Principal Greg Foley brings over 28 years of experience to the Sumsara Consulting practice in the disciplines of consumer and mortgage finance. Greg served for 25 years in a variety of senior staff and executive management positions at Freddie Mac where he contributed to the development of the U.S. Secondary mortgage market. These contributions include leading large-scale product development, technology and process improvement initiatives as well as line management responsibilities in the areas of mortgage asset acquisition, servicing, operational risk policy administration and customer relations. Greg earned dual Cum Laude Bachelor of Arts Degrees from Mount Saint Mary's University, has participated in George Mason University's executive development program and holds a certification from Appraisal Institute earned at American University in Washington D.C. As a member of the Mortgage Bankers Association and American Management Association Greg has been a featured speaker at industry conferences sponsored by the Mortgage Bankers Association, Mortgage Electronic Registration Systems Inc. and the American Land Title Association. Greg resides in Reston Virginia with his wife and son and in his spare time enjoys travel, golf and volunteering in community service programs. Mark Fleming, Principal Mark has over 25 years of experience in mortgage operations, securitization, technology management and strategic planning; of these, 21 years were in management/senior management at Freddie Mac. As Vice President for Strategic Partnership Development at Freddie Mac, he established Freddie's corporate partnerships for electronic securities auction and automated mortgage underwriting. A recognized leader in the US mortgage industry, he served as Founding Board Member of the Mortgage Electronic Registration System (MERS) and is co-holder of a patent specifying a method for predicting and reporting a real estate value. Mark is a graduate of Johns Hopkins University, and currently resides in Herndon, Virginia with his wife and two children. In his spare time, he enjoys volunteering at his childrens' high school.
